I'm not sure where this thread should go, so move it if it is the wrong place. Not a Guild Wars question, but more of a forum question, but seeing as there's no "Forum question" forum, you know.

I have been online gaming for about 7 years now, and cruising forums for about that amount of time, if not longer. So, I would consider myself "knowledgeable" on forum talk, but there's some things that I have never understood, and they've irked me so much I wanted to ask.

1. Sometimes, when people quote another person, they quote their name, but delete what they said and type in "snip". I'm not exactly sure if this is a good thing/bad thing? Or if it is just meant for conserving space?

2. I always thought I knew what "QFT" meant. On every forum I've ever been to, it means "Quit effing trying", i.e. "Stop posting, you're retarded, etc.". This forum has made me start to question whether everyone else has got it wrong, or just the people here? Whenever I see someone quote someone else, then type "QFT" they usually agree with the quoted poster. I really don't understand. Are people just using it wrong, or is my perception screwed up?

1. People do the *snip* thing
because the person they are qouting has a long post.

2. QFT means Quote for Truth.

Not sure about '-snip-' but QFT means 'Quoted for Truth.' I always thought that was somewhat self-explanatory.

1. it does save up space if you're quoting a "wall of words" or a picture, i personally have nothing against it UNLESS the quote is not on the same page as the reply, cos then we'll have to flip back to see the quote

2.QFT means Quoted For Truth as far as i know

I snip long posts to quote so everyone knows what I'm replying to.

The GoRedEngine is what you get when you try and post naughty words.

For the record, leet speak is not allowed here on guru. That and all the other rules are covered in
Q&A Forum Rules/FAQ. Very interesting reading. You'll learn a lot.

No lock yet, Ryker?

As he said, leet speak isn't allowed. Not in a serious way anyway. Most people here only use it for humor sake.

GOREDENGINE is from the practice of "forum firetrucking." You can look up that one on the intarwebz if you wish, although most of the results will be somewhat negative and probably NSFW.
